BEAR MOUNTAIN RESORTS SNOW REPORT - Snow Summit & Bear Mountain reports:
08/09
WINTER SEASON APPROACHING
Fall is here and BBMR is gearing up in preparation for the winter season.
Although Bear Mountain and Snow Summit do not have a designated opening
date, our target opening date is typically mid November and even earlier
depending on weather conditions. We have the largest snowmaking system
and we're ready to start them up as soon as the weather remains cold
enough. Each resort covers hundreds of acres of ski runs each season
with an average of three to five feet of solid man-made snow, the equivalent
of about ten feet of natural snow. So no matter what the temperature
is in the city BBMR will have snow all winter long! THINK SNOW!
You
get more at Big Bear Mountain Resorts — two resorts with
one season pass. Your 2010/2009 dual mountain season passes will be
valid at both Bear Mountain and Snow Summit. Bear Mountain season passes
are priced at a level to be affordable for young snowboarders looking
to spend their days riding THE PARK. As an additional bonus, Bear Mountain-only
passes are valid for Snow Summit night sessions so shredders can ride
on almost every Friday and Saturday night, all season long! To order
your season pass now, click here.
With
interchangeable season passes and a free shuttle between the two resorts,
Snow Summit and Bear Mountain gives Southern California skiers and snowboarders
more options than ever before. Season pass holders can now use a single
pass to access two full-service resorts, offering you: 26 lifts, 430
developed acres, 55+ runs and the most amazing collection of parks,
pipes and rails around.
No
matter if you are coming to visit Big Bear to go ski or snowboard, Big
Bear Mountain Resorts has a run for every taste. Visit both websites
to learn more about each of the ski resorts. No matter if you are a
beginner on skies or an avid snow board expert - Big Bear Lake Ski resorts
are here to make your trip unforgettable. Ski Rentals are available
and so are other snow related activities such as sledding and snow play.
We
urge you to
use the sledding facilities in Big Bear Lake and Big Bear City and not
to use the snow covered hills on the side of the roads. More then once
has a sled with a child ended up on the busy street with cars trying
to break on an icy road.
Be
smart - use the safe facilities for you snow and sledding fun with your
children and family!
Bear
Mountain
“The
Park” at Bear Mountain is Southern California’s only mountain
resort in the U.S. devoted almost entirely to freestyle terrain and
the ultimate place to learn to snowboard. At its peak, “The Park”
provides over 150 jumps including step-ups, step-downs, tables, hips,
vaders, spines and rollers, a halfpipe as well as nearly 80 jibs featuring

Southern California’s only Superpipe with an enormous length of
580 feet, a width of 67 feet and 17 foot walls! In the base area, you

Snow
Summit
Snow
Summit continues its position as Southern California’s premier
mountain resort – an ideal mountain for those looking to carve
some wide-open regularly groomed runs. It is the place for everyday
skiers and riders in search of a friendly laid-back winter playground.
Snow Summit is home to fantastic beginner slopes like the Bear Bottom
beginner’s area, low intermediate runs such as Summit Run, wide
intermediate cruisers such as Miracle Mile and Log Chute and challenging
advanced terrain on the Wall, Dicky’s and Olympic. Snow Summit’s
wide variety of interconnecting runs allows you to explore the entire
mountain without ever returning to the base area! Its terrain parks
and Zzyzx Half-pipe offer yet another exciting challenge for the whole
family. World famous Westridge and Ego Trip Parks, the Chair 9 Fun Zones
and the Zzyzx Park contain a variety of beginner to advanced jumps and
jibs for skiers and snowboarders alike.
